digital compositing The unbelievable part of this picture isn’t the tiger in the street…it’s that the setting is in Savannah, GA. Yep, in January 2018, Savannah had it’s first record snow in 30 years and I was lucky enough to be here for it. Oh…and the tiger was digitally composited.

Ode to My GrandfatherThis past quarter at SCAD, I got to explore a little about my family’s history...My grandfather started a sign business over 50 years ago in Louisiana by initially hand painting signs....and today, nearly 20 years after his passing, I got to learn more about something he loved doing.3 things I learned in this process:1. It’s A LOT harder than it looks. And takes a lot of practice.3. The stick he used to steady his hand is called a Mahl Stick - and I ended up making one of my own (but didn’t need it for this small of a sign). (Scroll right to see Mahl Stick)3. After working during the day, he would bring home vehicles and signs to paint. And when their 9 kids went to bed (yes, NINE kids), my grandfather would outline the letters and then my grandmother would fill them in. (I love that.)
